Five Awesome Summer Beauty Products

Five Awesome Summer Beauty Products

I like to try new products as much as I like to travel to new places and eat new foods, which is A LOT!

Here’s a list of five products that I have fallen in love with this summer.

1. Garnier BB Cream Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector ($12)

I bought this makeup on a whim in the spring.  I was packing to leave for a trip and wanted to minimize the number of beauty products that I was bringing.  The words “Shine Control” on the package definitely caught my attention, as my skin is oily and tends to look shiny as the day progresses.  This product is made for combination to oily skin and it definitely controls the oil.  I love that it is multi-functional; it moisturizes, evens tone, and provides sun protection with a broad spectrum SPF of 20.  I love this product so much that I haven’t returned to my regular foundation ever since this skin perfector entered my life!

2.  Lubriderm Daily Moisture with SPF 15 ($7)

Driving around in these hot summer months, I often feel the exposed skin on my left arm and leg getting warm from the sun blaring in through the car windows and suddenly wish I had thought to put on some sunscreen. However, I’m not too fond of the heavy texture of sunscreen, so I was thrilled to discover that Lubriderm made a lotion with sunscreen in it. Because of its lighter texture, it absorbs more easily than sunscreen and I keep this lotion in my car and rub it in whenever I realize that I need added protection from the sun.

3. Banana Boat Sport for Faces SPF 50 ($4)

Continuing the theme of sun protection, I discovered this product while at a friend’s house.  I was wondering what she was putting on her daughter’s face, and when she told me what it was, the rest of my summer instantly became easier.  No longer would I try smearing thick, pasty sunscreen on my kids’ faces, taking care to avoid their eyes (even though one of them usually ended up accidentally rubbing it in their eyes anyway). All of that hassle can be avoided by using this miracle stick.  The sunscreen slides on easily and stays exactly where you put it. How did I not know about this before?

4. Reviva Labs DMAE Firming Fluid ($14)

I realize that the Garnier Skin Perfector is supposed to moisturize as it perfects, thus eliminating the need for any other products.  It does do that, but this lightweight DMAE Firming Fluid plumps up the skin, giving it a radiant, youthful appearance even without using makeup over it. DMAE, or dimethylaminoethanol, has been featured on the Dr. Oz show as a beneficial ingredient in anti-aging products.I love how my skin instantly drinks up this fluid and feels supple afterwards.

5. Johnson’s Baby Oil Gel, Shea and Cocoa Butter ($3.50)

I bought this product after reading on Pinterest that you could use this in place of shaving cream or gel, so I had to try it out.  Sure enough, my legs felt like silk the first time I tried it.  However, after a few days I noticed stubble in areas that I know I had shaved.  I realized that the gel was so thick that it wasn’t rinsing out of my razor and basically clogging my blades.  I abandoned the idea of shaving with this gel but started applying it all over at the end of my shower as a moisturizer.  It makes my skin so smooth, it glistens.

All of these items are available at Walmart with the exception of the DMAE Firming Fluid, which can be found at Ulta. Prices are listed as of 8/6/13.
